02-08-2013 – Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Strategic Planning Process: Overview
The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board of Trustees is beginning a strategic plan process. The purpose is to develop a high level plan to guide priority-setting and to serve as a helpful road map for a new CEO and staff. To be completed in April 2013, the plan will identify core strategies that will help guide the airport over the next 3 to 5 years.
Purpose & Outcome: When complete, the Strategic Plan will set objectives, goals and measures that will help shape airport activities.
Process: A Strategic Planning Committee made up of Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board members has been appointed to oversee the process. The committee will seek stakeholder input through a variety of public meetings, survey questions and outreach. Finally, the Airport Board will engage in a retreat to direct, solidify and approve the plan.
What this process is not addressing: A Strategic Plan is NOT a Master Plan. Master Plans are in-depth, detailed and comprehensive projects that determine long-term facility and development plans for the airport. The Strategic Plan will not address an Airport Master Plan, Airport Layout Plan, specific plans or air service strategies.
