04-28-2016 - Reno Airport Recognized with National-Level Excellence in Human Resources Award

The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) recently received the Human Resources Excellence Program Award from Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA).

At the ACI-NA 2016 Business of Airports Conference in Orlando this month, the council recognized the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority with the Excellence in Human Resources best practices Individual Topic Award. The accolade went to Reno for “overall achievement in promoting an innovative change management program that contributes to the improvement in airport business performance and employee work”.

The award specifically recognized the RTAA’s change management efforts in key areas, as they created a “new flight plan” for the future. The airport team beat out 10 other airports across the nation.

“With an employee-generated THRIVE program, the organization’s succession planning, creation of a new workplace culture and continuing education efforts, RTAA proudly demonstrated that our employees are our most important asset,” said Airport President and CEO, Marily Mora.

The THRIVE program is a result of a culture refresh at the airport. It’s a set of values developed by a cross-divisional, mostly non-management team, tasked with creating a character set each employee can build upon in their workplace. THRIVE stands for Teamwork and results, Honesty and integrity, Respect and recognition, Inspire and Innovate, Versatility and Enthusiasm for excellence.
