To our partners in aviation:
Reno-Tahoe International Airport is experiencing a high incidence of runway incursions
and pilot deviations. This is a problem that must be addressed before a serious incident
occurs. We feel that a solution is possible with an active partnership that includes you as
the user of the airport.
We have taken the following actions to assist you in your operations at Reno-Tahoe:
- Additional guidance signage has been installed on taxiway ?C?.
- Signage has been placed at the approach ends of runways 16L and 16R advising
pilots to hold short and contact the control tower.
- All hold bars at Reno-Tahoe have been widened from six inches to twelve inches for
increased visibility.
- Surface painted signage has been placed on taxiway ?C? to better guide pilots.
- Hold lines have been placed at the exits of all FBOs.
- Signage has been placed at the exits of all FBOs reminding pilots to contact ground
control prior to taxi.
To make Reno-Tahoe a safer airport please add the following items to your pre-flight
checklist:
- Check NOTAMs for construction related closures.
- Monitor the ATIS on 135.8 prior to entering class ?C? airspace at Reno or
contacting ground control for taxi instructions.
- Contact Reno ground control on 121.9 prior to beginning your taxi.
- Be extra alert for any hold-short instructions from ATC.
- Pay close attention to directional signage.
- Verify that you have the proper ATC clearance prior to entering any active
movement areas.
