RNO Master Plan: Project 2

Project Description

At the far south end of Taxiway Alpha, the FAA has identified a Runway Incursion site, requiring mitigation for safety purposes. This small airfield project has been included in much larger airfield reconstruction project also known as the Runway 16R/34L Reconstruction project. The Runway Incursion Mitigation (RIM) work involves the rounding off of a squared-off portion of pavement. Because this RIM work is included in Phase 2 of a larger airfield project, all schedule and cost information below represents the larger project – Runway 16R/34L Reconstruction, Phase 2.

Current Phase

A $10,000,000 FAA supplemental grant was announced on May 14, 2019 for the Phase 2 Runway 16R-34L project. The FAA announced on February 19, 2020 a grant award for the Phase 2 Runway project in the amount of $31,705,245. Coupled with the supplemental grant and the sponsor shares, the total project funding is $46,478,122. The construction contract, construction management amendment, and contract administration PSA were approved at the March 2020 RTAA Board Meeting.
