Arts & Community

The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority promotes the art and culture of our community and region and is currently expanding the art program to include more art in the terminal. In 2005, RTAA opened its first gallery in the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and has since featured numerous exhibits and performances for passengers to enjoy. The DepARTures Gallery is located on the C Concourse connector.

Exhibits at RNO

  • Story and Art of the Stewart Indian School

On display through February 1, 2023, this unique exhibit tells the story of the boarding school located south of Carson City, once run by the federal government, where Native children from the Great Basin tribal nations of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California, Western Shoshone, Northern Paiute, and Southern Paiute were removed from their families to learn English and job skills.

  • Historic Flag Display

The historic display in baggage claim, on permanent loan from the The Olympic Museum, commemorates the 1960 Winter Olympics. The flags represent each nation that competed in the Olympics games held at the prestigious Squaw Valley, which is now more appropriately named Palisades Tahoe.

  • 14th Annual Employee Art Show

The 14th Annual Employee Art Show showcased artwork from RNO employees and close family members. The display was judged by three local art professionals.

  • NOW Exhibit

The NOW Exhibit from the University of Nevada School of the Arts showcased local artists in the DepARTures Gallery in early 2022.
