  • Which rental car agencies are on site at Reno-Tahoe International Airport and where are they located?

    Reno-Tahoe International Airport provides convenient access to nine different rental caragencies. All nine rental car counters are located in Baggage Claim. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Thrifty vehicles are located just outside Baggage Claim in the Parking Structure. Payless vehicles are located off airport. A complimentary shuttle service to the Payless location can be met outside the D Doors located North of Baggage Claim.   • What type of identification is required to travel?

    According to the Transportation Security Administration website, domestic passengers age 18 and over must present one form of photo identification issued by a local state or federal government agency (e.g.: passport/drivers license/military ID), or two forms of non-photo identification, one of which must have been issued by a state or federal agency (e.g.: U.S. social security card). For an international flight, passengers need to present a valid passport, visa, or any other required documentation. Passengers without proper ID can be denied boarding. However, they are usually allowed to travel as long as they undergo some additional screening procedures. The airport recommends contacting your airline directly to find out what forms of identification they would accept in this particular situation. Please note that all passengers who are traveling without proper ID MUST be processed through their airline ticket counter before going through the security check-point. This must be done, regardless of whether or not they have to check luggage or have previously acquired a boarding pass prior to arriving at the airport. Please be sure you check in at the ticket counter prior to going to the security check-point.

  • What transportation options are available from the airport to the hotel/casinos?

  • What is the procedure for picking up an unaccompanied minor from the airport?

    "Gate passes" are issued by the individual air carriers at their discretion. Typically, these passes are given to those persons escorting unaccompanied minors or passengers with special needs. You will need to request this "gate pass" at the airline ticket counter. Please note that a government issued, photo ID is required to in order to acquire this pass. Any specific questions regarding obtaining the "gate pass/escort pass" should be directed to the Airlines.

  • What hotels are near the airport?

    There are many hotels close to the airport. Most major hotel/casinos are within a five to ten mile radius of Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The two closest hotels, both of which are located directly across the street and within walking distance from the airport terminal, are The Hyatt Place Hotel and The Best Western Airport Plaza. For hotel/casino ameneties, The Grand Sierra Resort is about two miles from the airport. All three hotels can be reached at the following numbers. Hyatt Place Hotel: 775-826-2500 Best Western Airport Plaza: 775-348-6370 Grand Sierra Resort: 775-789-2000. In addition, most of the major hotels/casinos in the Reno/Sparks area have complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport.   • How much does it cost to park at Reno-Tahoe International Airport?

  • How do I prepare to travel with a dog?

    The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is very canine friendly. In fact, Reno-Tahoe International is one of the few airports in the country that offers not one, but two Dog Parks to four legged passengers. At the Gate K-9 Bark Parks, dogs can run around, drink some water, and take care of any necessary "doggie business" with mutt mitts provided. For more information on the Bark Parks, please go to Dog Park. Every airline has different rules, regulations, and restrictions regarding pets on aircraft. Please contact each airline directly in regards to their individual policy. Airlines that accept pets either as cargo or in-cabin are the following: American Airlines, Delta/Delta Connection, Southwest and Alaska/Horizon Airlines.   • How can I find out more information regarding security directives?

  • Does Reno-Tahoe International Airport offer luggage storage?

    Unfortunately, since the events of September 11th, for security reasons, the Reno-Tahoe International Airport does not have lockers or any storage facility for customer luggage.

  • Are there smoking areas available at Reno-Tahoe International Airport?

    Since the new Nevada state law was enacted on December 8, 2006, the airport does not have any designated smoking areas within the terminal building. The only designated smoking areas are located outside the main doors of the terminal building, just north of the skywalk and at the north end of baggage claim. Seating and ashtrays are provided.


  • Will the RTAA sponsor me for a work visa?

    The RTAA does not sponsor individuals for a work visa. Qualified applicants must be able to submit proof of eligibility to work in the United States immediately upon hire.

  • What is the interview process?

    Once qualified applicants are identified, selected candidates are invited to interview. Subsequent interviews and/or individual assessment exercises may be conducted.

  • What is the best way for me to get an interview with the RTAA?

    In order to make it through the 1st phase of the screening process; you must meet the minimum qualifications. Therefore, we cannot stress enough the importance of reading the application instructions and the Job Announcement before completing the application. Both have critical information needed to successfully complete our application. In addition, you will want to include any jobs that will prove you meet the minimum qualifications of the position for which you are applying. Only applications that meet the minimum qualifications will be forwarded to the hiring manager.

  • What if I miss the application deadline?

    Late applications will not be accepted. Check our website regularly and apply for new jobs as soon as they are posted to avoid missed deadlines.

  • What if I don't have a computer?

    There are many community resources such as local libraries or Nevada Job Connect that offer free use of computers.

  • What happens to my application after I turn it in?

    Once the position closes; the Recruitment Specialist screens the submitted applications to determine if the minimum qualifications have been met. The group of applicants that meet the minimum qualifications are submitted to the hiring manager for review. The hiring manager determines who to interview. You can track the status of your application throughout the entire process! Simply use your login name and password to view the status of all your applications.

  • I already applied for one job; do I need to apply again if I'm interested in another job?

    Yes, you need to submit a completed application for each position you are interested in. Each application is evaluated and scored separately based upon the specific requirements of the job. Applying online makes it easy because you can apply to different jobs by creating multiple applications that highlight specific skills and experiences for different positions.

  • How many of my previous jobs should I put on my application?

    You must provide a five-year work history. However, you also need to show all of your qualifying experience, even if you held that position over 5 years ago. Qualifying experience is work experience that meets the minimum qualifications as posted on each job announcement.

  • How long does the recruitment process take?

    Every recruitment is different. The process will vary in length depending upon the number of applications received, and the complexity of the selection process.

  • How do I apply for a job at the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA)?

    Submit your application online by going to the Working at the Airport Authority page or visiting to link to our application. This takes you to where you can build an application and apply for openings at RTAA and many other government agencies both locally and nationwide.

  • Can I just submit a resume?

    We only accept resumes when attached to a completed application for an open position.

  • Can I get a copy of an application I submitted for a previous job?

    Once you submit your application to the RTAA, it is the property of the RTAA and we do not provide copies. We strongly encourage applicants to make a copy of each application before you submit it for consideration. When you apply online you will always have access to the applications that you submitted. In fact, once you create an application online, you may use it to apply to any open position at the airport as well as many other government agencies both locally and nationwide.

  • Is there an application deadline?

    Yes, most job postings include a closing date. Applications must be received prior to 11:59 pm on that date.
