Certifiably Paw-some

As a BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ Certified Airport, RNO prioritizes the safety and ease of traveling with pets and service animals. With a few rules and even better amenities in place, our airport is certified pet-friendly and welcomes furry companions of all shapes and sizes.

Animal Relief & Bark Parks

Paws-itively Perfect Places to Hang With Your Pet

RNO has three Animal Relief Areas that keep service animals and four-legged passengers’ tails a waggin’ that are all ADA accessible.

Pre Security Locations (Bark Parks): These parks are fully fenced with ADA accessibility, running water, mutt mitts to clean up after dogs, a fire hydrant, and a canopy in case there is inclement weather.

  • Gate K9 – South: This location is south of the terminal near the Ticketing Lobby just outside of the Southwest Airlines Ticket Counter with nearly 700 sq. ft. of space.
  • Gate K9 – North: This location is north of the terminal outside Door D through baggage claim by ground transportation with more than 1000 sq. ft. of space.

Post-Security Location: You can find this Bark Parks on the second floor of the terminal building between the Concourses in the High Mountain Marketplace. All of the Bark Parks are within walking distance from the airline gates, so animals can find relief before their flight (cats included!). These parks are fully-enclosed and have access to running water. Please help us keep these parks clean by picking up after your animal.

With more than 30 teams, airport therapy dogs provided by Paws4Passengers help alleviate stress and anxiety for anyone traveling through RNO. Each dog is certified by the Alliance of Therapy Dogs and even has their own trading card with personal facts about them and their most recent pictures attached.
