Does the airport have luggage storage?
No. Unfortunately, due to TSA security policies implemented after 9/11, RNO does not offer storage lockers of any kind. You may want to check with your airline to see if they can accommodate requests regarding luggage storage.
Please read this additional information about Burner Express Air luggage restrictions.
How early should I arrive to the airport after Burning Man is over?
Please arrive to the airport before your flight at least two hours early and allow for extra time if you need to return a rental car, donate your playa bike, and/or check luggage. Burning Man is one of the largest events in the region welcoming more than 25,000 passengers through RNO.
Can I drop-off or pick-up a passenger in my RV?
An RV may drop-off or pick-up on the outer curb, but may not be left unattended. Our Skybridge height clearance is 14’6” and canopy clearance near the ticketing hall is 13′.
Can I shower at the airport?
RNO does not have showers in the terminal, and we ask that you do not use our toilet facilities to wash away playa dust from your person. We suggest finding washing accommodations at one of the many hotels or motels in the area.
Why do I need to cover my luggage with a plastic bag?
Passenger luggage with playa dust will be required to be placed in a large plastic bag provided by the airline. Please remove as much playa dust as possible from your personal objects before entering the terminal building.
Playa dust can be harmful to baggage handling equipment and may slow down airline operations.
Where can I discard/donate my bicycle?
RNO will have one bike donation area/corral at the Burner Express Bus drop-off location.
All bicycles left in the bike corral become property of a local non-profit. RTAA assumes no liability for unattended, lost or damaged bicycles.
What items can I bring through the TSA security checkpoint?
Planning ahead and packing properly can help your ease of travel through the airport. Please TSA’s easy tool to search on prohibited items and what is allowed in a carry on or checked luggage.
Where can I leave unwanted items?
Please do not bring your trash or recycling to the airport. Visit Burning Man’s Leave Nevada Beautiful network for Burner-friendly resources for trash, recycling, and RV grey/black water servicing facilities where you can legally dispose of your waste on your way home after the Black Rock City event.
If you lost an item, please contact our Lost and Found. Please note, any items covered in playa dust left in or near airport trash bins, or around the airport terminal, will be destroyed.
Please see the bike-drop section above regarding where to donate your bicycle.
Will the rental car company charge a cleaning fee?
Any rented vehicles that contain playa dust outside or inside the vehicle are subject to cleaning fees. Please reach out to your rental car company directly on cleaning fees during Burning Man.
