07-16-2020 - Reno-Tahoe International Airport Announces New Service to Seattle on Southwest Airlines

Reno, Nev. – Southwest Airlines has announced it will begin offering seasonal, daily, non-stop service between Reno and Seattle on a 143-seat Boeing 737 aircraft.

On sale now, the daily flight runs from July 26 through September 6 and will depart Reno-Tahoe International (RNO) at 12:40 p.m. and arrive in Seattle (SEA) at 2:25 p.m. The return flight leaves Seattle at 6:30 p.m. and will arrive at 8:10 p.m. into Reno.  Southwest previously served RNO-SEA but left the market in June 2014.

“Adding service during the COVID-19 pandemic shows confidence in the Reno-Tahoe region,” said Marily Mora, President/CEO of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority.  “Our commitment to offering the cleanest, safest travel experience possible whenever passengers are ready to fly is unmatched, and we are excited to add this service during these challenging times.”

RNO has launched an advertising campaign called We Move You, Safely that promotes the efforts of the airport, airlines and TSA to offer the safest travel experience possible.  In the past two months, the airport has added 1,000 social distancing stickers to the terminal floor, required masks inside the airport, set-up hand sanitizer stations, instituted electro-static cleaning and installed Plexiglas shielding at all counters.

Southwest is advertising travel to areas like Reno-Tahoe that have strong outdoor attractions and open space during COVID-19.  Southwest is the second airline to service the RNO-SEA route non-stop.  Currently, Alaska Airlines offers four flights a day on a 76-seat aircraft.
