MEDIA ALERT – Dignitaries to Unveil Stead Air Base Museum

What: Join the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, Nevada Adjutant General William Burks, World War II, Korean and Vietnam era veterans and their families as we open Reno-Stead: A Proud History.

Come celebrate with 175 guests as we unveil the Stead military history museum just in time for Veteran’s Day.  The 1st floor of the Stead terminal will now celebrate the rich military heritage of the Reno Army Air Base and Stead Air Force Base. The display includes more than 65 pieces of memorabilia and hundreds of photographs, collected from servicemen and their families. A video depicts the training that took place at the Survival School and pays tribute to the thousands of men and women who once trained at Reno-Stead.

More than 25 veterans of the base and their families, military and community supporters. Members of the Stead family, for whom the base was named, will also be in attendance.

The Reno Army Air Base and Stead Air Force Base were once bustling with soldiers, planes, helicopters and were a vital part of our nation’s military training. Join us for this glimpse back in time.
