Departing passengers encouraged to consider alternative transportation options

RENO, Nev. (Oct. 10, 2024) – Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is anticipating parking to reach full capacity, including the parking garage, surface lot and overflow lots, by Friday, Oct. 11, 2024. The increased demand is largely due to the Washoe County School District Fall Break, which is contributing to a significant increase of travelers choosing to park at the airport. Passengers are encouraged to consider alternate transportation options, such as rideshares, taxis, shuttles or getting a ride from friends and family, to avoid parking challenges during this busy time.

This marks an unprecedented moment for RNO, and with travel on the rise following the busiest summer in nearly 20 years, this is likely not the last time this will happen. Looking ahead, Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday travel is also expected to see similar increases in demand.

Travel Tips This Season

  • Check Parking Availability: Before making the decision to park at the airport, visit www.renoairport.com to check availability.
  • Arrive Early: If you decide to park at the airport, plan to arrive early and allow extra time for finding a space and getting to your gate.
  • Drop-Off & Pick-Up Zones: With the completion of the Loop Road project, drop-off and pick-up zones are better than ever. Consider hitching a ride from a friend or using a rideshare or taxi service to bypass parking entirely.
  • Group Travelers: If you’re traveling with a group, drop family and bags curbside before parking in the overflow lot for a smoother experience.

For more information and updates, visit RNO’s website or follow the airport on social media.

The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) operates two of the most important economic drivers for our region–the Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) and the Reno-Stead Airport (RTS). The RTAA is financially self-sufficient, meaning it is funded through airport operations and not state or local taxes. The RTAA is transforming the travel experience at RNO with a multi-year infrastructure program, MoreRNO. This construction program—the largest ever at the airport—will bring passengers more of what they love. Learn more at www.MoreRNO.com.
