The Public Information Officer (PIO) oversees all media requests, relations and procedures for the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA). The RTAA owns and operates both the Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) and Reno-Stead Airport (RTS). The City of Reno manages the Reno Fire Department which responds to both airports and should be contacted separately for fire-related inquiries.

Tenants at RNO, such as airlines, rental car companies, shopping and dining concessionaires operate independently from the RTAA. For media inquiries regarding their operations and procedures, please contact them directly.
Accredited members of the media may film, videotape or photograph publicly accessible areas, providing that this action does not interfere with passenger traffic, airport operations, vehicle traffic, or the business of any of the RNO’s airlines or other tenants.
Notification to the PIO is required prior to arriving at the airport.
Whether it is for a feature film, commercial or developing documentary, RNO offers Special Use Permits for filming at the airport. Special Use Permits start from $500 to $900 per day based on the impact of the activity on aviation operations.
All filming requests must be made through the Public Information Officer by calling the media line 844-RNO-INFO (844-766-4636) prior to filling out the Film Permit Application for consideration. The completion/submission of a Film Permit Application does not guarantee or grant access.
Media parking space is available along the south end of the passenger drop-off lanes, along the Loop Road.
Have you ever wondered what an apron or tarmac is? How direct and nonstop flights are different? Airport’s speak very specific terms that could be confusing for someone not in the industry, so Airports Council International released A Journalist’s Guide to Understanding North American Airports to assist with media reporting.
