RELEASE – Catch a Ride, Arrive Early when Traveling through Reno-Tahoe International over the July 4th Weekend
RENO, Nev. – Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) will be very busy again this weekend, with over 16,000 passengers expected to arrive and depart on peak travel days. Travelers should prepare for limited parking and longer lines, something airports across the country are experiencing as demand has far surpassed expectations following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although RNO is known for being a quick, convenient airport, allowing extra time throughout the summer is vitally important. To ensure a less stressful travel experience, the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) is recommending the following:
Arrive two hours prior to your flight.
If possible, use an alternate means of transportation such as Uber, Lyft, taxi, public transportation or catch a ride with a friend or relative.
If driving is the only option, watch for overflow parking signs and staff directing traffic during peak times.
Allow extra time for rental car returns.
Expedite the Transportation Security Administration screening process by emptying pockets, removing shoes, electronic devices, jackets, food, and liquids (not to exceed 3 oz.).
Download boarding passes at home.
Charge your phone and sign up for automated airline flight status alerts sent directly to your smartphone.
Additionally, airport tenants around the country are feeling the effects of a hiring shortage, so patience and understanding are appreciated. RNO’s Paws 4 Passengers therapy dogs will be on hand July 2 and 5 to greet travelers and help ease the stress of holiday travel.
Despite the CDC easing its mask guidelines, all travelers are required to wear face coverings in airports and on planes through September 13 regardless of proof of vaccination.
