Three Additional Call for Artists to be Released in 2026

RENO, Nev. (Nov. 12, 2025) – The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) is inviting artists to be part of the transformation of Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) with the launch of its first public art solicitation for the Police and Airport Authority Headquarters (The HQ), the future home of Airport Police and RTAA personnel.

This marks the first of four different call for artists opportunities, that will incorporate varying disciplines and many locations in The HQ project. The HQ is part of the $1+ billion MoreRNO Infrastructure Program, the largest modernization effort in the airport’s history. Through the Arts at the Airport program, a dedicated minimum 1% of design and construction costs for capital improvement projects in public spaces come from RTAA funds for public art. This commitment ensures that creativity and culture remain part of the airport experience for passengers, employees and the broader community.

“Art transforms spaces into experiences,” said Daren Griffin, President/CEO of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority. “Every new installation across our airport campus tells part of northern Nevada’s story and reflects the creativity and character of our region. The HQ project continues that vision by bringing art into spaces where our people and the public come together.”

First Call for Artists – RFQ Details

The Call for Artists is open through Dec. 17, 2025, and seeks professional artists or artist teams to design and fabricate:

  • Interior terrazzo floor artwork and exterior entry plaza elements, including custom concrete seating, located on the first floor of The HQ building.

Additionally, a Pre-Submittal Meeting will be held via Zoom on Nov. 14, 2025, at 10 a.m. PST. Interested artists are encouraged to attend and can find Zoom details available in the RFQ.

Design Vision and Artwork Goals

The selected artist’s work will align with the RTAA’s Modern Mountain design theme, which reflects the spirit, culture, and striking landscapes of northern Nevada. Artworks should embody the region’s natural features including lakes, rivers and mountains as well as Nevada’s legacy as the “Battle Born State” and its rich aviation history.

Artwork for The HQ should strive to:

  • Enliven the space and create a welcoming moment for employees, police officers, board members and guests.
  • Foster an authentic sense of place uniquely tied to northern Nevada.
  • Enhance the workspace experience and reflect regional identity.
  • Connect exterior and interior areas through cohesive themes, designs, patterns, or colors.

Upcoming Opportunities for Artists

This RFQ is the first of four planned calls for artists for The HQ project. The next upcoming 2026 solicitations include:

  • Wall-based artworks
  • Mural in Airport Police Conference Room
  • Custom conference room tables
