RNO is open and operational

RENO, Nev. (Oct. 1, 2025) – The Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) remains open and operational despite the federal government shutdown. While essential services such as Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screening and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) air traffic control continue, travelers could see potential impacts if the shutdown is prolonged.

“The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority is not a federal agency and our operations are not directly affected by the shutdown,” said RTAA President/CEO Daren Griffin. “We are committed to keeping RNO running safely, efficiently and reliably for our community and travelers. While there may be behind-the-scenes challenges, our focus is on delivering the level of service our passengers expect.”

The RTAA encourages passengers to:

-Arrive at the airport with ample time before their flights

-Show patience and kindness to the TSA and CBP officers assisting you during this time

-Stay informed through renoairport.com

-Follow @RenoAirport on social media for the latest updates

RNO remains committed to ensuring passenger safety and convenience throughout this period.

The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) operates two of the most important economic drivers for our region–the Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) and the Reno-Stead Airport (RTS). The RTAA is financially self-sufficient, meaning it is funded through airport operations and not state or local taxes. Eleven airlines serve RNO, flying to multiple nonstop destinations throughout the United States and Mexico. For more details, visit www.renoairport.com.
