Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Invites Community Members to Submit Applications through City of Reno or the Reno Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority
RENO, Nev. (March 17, 2026) – The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) announces opportunities to serve on its Board of Trustees. There are three vacancies on the nine-member board. Two slots will be filled by the Reno City Council and one by the Reno Tahoe Convention & Visitors Authority (RSCVA). Interested applicants can learn more and submit an application through the City of Reno Boards and Commissions page or by contacting the RSCVA by email at mestrellado@visitrenotahoe.com.
The RTAA Board of Trustees provides governance and strategic oversight for the RTAA, the owner and operator of both the Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) and Reno-Stead Airport (RTS). Together, the airports support passenger travel, cargo, general and military aviation, and emerging advanced air mobility technologies. New trustees will join the Board during a pivotal time for the organization. The RTAA is currently advancing the MoreRNO Infrastructure Program, a billion-dollar investment designed to modernize airport facilities and support the region’s growth for the next 40 years. RTAA also recently launched its first public art program and has committed over $3 million to curate a regionally-inspired permanent art collection.
“We are excited to welcome new trustees as we ambitiously shape the future of both RNO and RTS,” said Shaun Carey, RTAA Board Chair. “With more than $3 billion in annual economic impact helping drive our region’s prosperity, this Board is deeply committed to bold strategic vision, disciplined financial stewardship, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Our trustees take seriously their duty to safeguard these vital community assets while positioning both airports for sustainable growth in service to the region.”
Trustee Qualifications
Prospective applicants should note:
- RTAA’s governing authority directs appointing authorities to “…appoint a person to serve on the Board only if the appointing authority determines that the person:
- Has experience in the aviation, business or tourism industry
- Has experience in finance or accounting; or
- Possesses such other qualifications that the appointing authority determines are necessary or appropriate for carrying out the duties of the Board”
- Appointing agencies may apply their own eligibility criteria, but they must, at minimum, verify an appointee’s Nevada residency and U.S. citizenship as required by state law and the Constitution
- Trustee positions are typically four-year terms with the possibility of one reappointment from the appointing agency; the current vacancies will be filled for the remainder of the term expiring June 30, 2027, and June 20, 2029
- This is a highly active working board that meets 11 to 12 times per year as a full board with additional subcommittee meetings and community events throughout the year
Outgoing Trustees Reflect on Service
Former Trustee Kitty Jung said in her recent resignation letter, “It has been an honor to serve and to represent the City of Reno in this role. During my time on the board, we accomplished what I believe is the most significant and important safety initiative for the airport in many years: the agreement between the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority and the City of Reno that placed airport fire protection and Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) services under the Reno Fire Department… I am grateful to have been part of that work and hope it continues to serve the airport and our visitors well into the future. Thank you for the trust you placed in me and for the opportunity to serve.”
Jung was appointed to the Board by the City of Reno in 2023 and served as Board Secretary during the 2025-26 fiscal year.
In addition, former Trustee Pascal Dupuis stated in his resignation letter, “It has been an honor to serve and to represent RSCVA in this role. During my short time on the board, it was great to participate to the launch of MoreRNO program and I really enjoyed my time and I thank you for giving me this opportunity.”
Dupuis, appointed by the RSCVA in 2025, brought more than 30 years of hospitality leadership experience to the Board.
