RENO, NV – Low-cost airline Volaris, based in Mexico City and offering four weekly non-stop flights from Reno-Tahoe International (RNO) to Guadalajara (GDL), celebrated its five-year anniversary today, Monday, December 16, 2019.

In 2014, Volaris put the “International” back in Reno-Tahoe International since Reno Air offered regularly scheduled service to Vancouver, Canada in 1999.

Started as twice-a-week service, Volaris flights were immediately popular with the local Hispanic population and our neighbors to the south wanting to visit Reno-Tahoe.  Over 190,000 passengers have flown between RNO and GDL since its inaugural flight.

“During the holiday season, we are deeply grateful for all of the airlines at RNO, especially Volaris as they celebrate this significant milestone,” said Marily Mora, President and CEO of Reno-Tahoe International Airport.  “The tremendous support from the community is indicative of the need for international service at RNO, and we continue to push for additional routes that would benefit our mix of business and leisure travelers.”

Volaris flights on their signature Airbus 320 aircraft now run Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  From December 17, 2019 to January 7, 2020, the airline will offer a fifth weekly flight on Tuesdays.
