Honky tonk, hot chicken and nonstop connections: New route connects two destinations through convenient air service, expanding air travel options for passengers.

RENO, Nev. (Oct. 1, 2026) – Southwest Airlines launched year-round nonstop service between Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) and Nashville International Airport (BNA), giving northern Nevada travelers a new convenient connection to Music City and beyond.

RNO and Southwest Airlines celebrated the inaugural nonstop flight Thursday, Oct. 1 with community leaders, Southwest Airlines leadership and airport employees gathered at the Ski Statue inside the airport terminal. The new service marks another milestone in RNO’s ongoing efforts to expand nonstop connectivity and provide travelers with more convenient options to destinations across the country.

“Every new route creates more opportunities for our community, providing more options and more convenience,” said Cris Jensen, president and CEO of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority. “For fall 2026, Southwest Airlines has added about 14% compared to fall 2025, and we are grateful for their continued partnership in growing air service for our community. We look forward to building on this momentum to keep passengers, employees and business community connected to the people and places that matter most.”

The Nashville launch also reflects the strength of the Reno-Tahoe region and the overall confidence airline partners have in the market. RNO has added more than 84,000 additional roundtrip seats for October through December 2026 compared with the same period last year.

The new route also provides travelers with access to Southwest Airlines’ broader network through Nashville, creating additional opportunities for connections beyond Music City to destinations across the Midwest and East Coast.

“We’re excited to bring year-round nonstop service between Reno and Nashville, giving our customers in northern Nevada even more options to explore, connect and experience new destinations,” said John Parker, director of capacity planning, Southwest Airlines. “Nashville is a dynamic destination with strong appeal for both leisure and business travelers and we’re proud to connect these two growing, vibrant communities while providing convenient access to destinations throughout our network.”
