Reno-Tahoe International Airport Announces Southbound I-580 Airport Off-Ramp to Temporarily Close for Construction

Closure supports MoreRNO improvements and critical utility work by NV Energy

RENO, Nev. (April 2, 2026) – The Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is advising travelers of upcoming road closures that may affect travel to the airport. From April 6 through April 17, the southbound I-580 airport off-ramp will be closed 24 hours a day as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements. While the airport offramp is closed, access to the airport from northbound Aviation Way will be unavailable Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The closure is to ensure motorist safety while NV Energy performs essential underground utility work, including trenching, near the roadway. The construction is tied to the current projects within the airport’s MoreRNO Infrastructure Program.

Travelers heading to the airport from southbound I-580 should use an alternate route, allow extra time and follow clearly marked detour routes that will direct traffic safely to the airport. Airport operations will remain fully open and accessible throughout the duration of construction.

The airport appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as these improvements are completed to better serve the region.

The RTAA is financially self-sufficient, meaning it is funded through airport operations and not state or local taxes. Eleven airlines serve RNO, flying to multiple nonstop destinations throughout the United States and Mexico. For more details, visit www.renoairport.com.
