Reno-Tahoe International Airport Sees Strong Air Service Growth Heading Into 2027

Projected to welcome 5 million passengers in 2026, RNO is riding a strong tailwind into next year with more nonstop flights and better connectivity.

RENO, Nev. (Sept. 16, 2026) – Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is experiencing continued growth in air service, offering approximately 86,000 more roundtrip seats for October through December 2026 as compared to the same period last year. The increase reflects the airport’s ongoing efforts to strengthen air service and to meet growing demand for travel to and from the Reno-Tahoe region.

“This growth underscores our airline partners’ confidence in RNO and our team’s commitment to delivering connectivity for our community, our visitors and our region’s thriving businesses,” said Cris Jensen, president and CEO, Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority. “This year has been filled with air service wins and we’re looking forward to finishing strong as we look ahead to 2027.”

Expanded seasonal and year-round service, a new route, and increased frequencies on existing routes along with more convenient schedules are significant contributors to RNO’s strong outlook for the rest of the year.

JSX Expands Nonstop Las Vegas Service
JSX is increasing its nonstop options to Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), transitioning from a seasonal offering to year-round service beginning Thursday, Oct. 1.Additionally, JSX will offer daily service to Las Vegas beginning Thursday, Oct. 15, an expansion from the current schedule offering four days per week. These expansions provide travelers with additional frequency and convenient nonstop access between the two Nevada destinations.

Southwest Will Begin Nonstop Flights to Nashville
Southwest Airlines is offering a new year-round nonstop route from RNO to Nashville International Airport (BNA) beginning Thursday, Oct. 1. Flights are four days per week, offering travelers convenient access to one of the nation’s fastest-growing markets and connections to destinations beyond the Music City.

JetBlue Continues Daytime Departures to New York
JetBlue’s seasonal nonstop service between RNO and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York will continue in 2027. The extended offering of daytime departure options enhances the convenience of the RNO–JFK route, connecting travelers with the New York metropolitan area and JetBlue’s broader network. JetBlue will offer this service during three seasonal timeframes:

• Dec. 17, 2026 through Jan. 4, 2027
• Feb 11, 2027 through March 29, 2027
• June 17, 2027 through the 2027 summer season

Sun Country Extends Minneapolis–St. Paul Service Through the Fall
Sun Country Airlines is expanding its nonstop service from RNO to Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport (MSP) into the shoulder season. Sun Country will operate the route through November 2026, extending the service beyond its original operating window of May through August, providing travelers more opportunities to connect between the Reno-Tahoe region and the Twin Cities.
